Welcome to the Derby Raynet website

Derby Raynet which was formerly known as Derbyshire Raynet has been around since 1974 and hascontinually been involved in providing communications for many different occasions. Our activities at one time were mainly based on providing emergency communications to the User Services.

There is still a need to provide radio comms in times of emergency when called upon, the group operates the call sign G0FAY. Events such as charity sponsored walks, runs and also cycle rides make good training and practice exercises. When calledby these groups, who involve the User Services, Derby Raynet members will turn out often at short notice to any part of Derbyshire and the surrounding areas, to provide the necessary comms links for the safety of these events. We also liaise with the Buxton and Leicester Raynet Groups.

Derby Raynet is by far the largest and most active group in Derbyshire and is an entirely voluntary group of local Radio Amateurs, who have now recently increased to some 34 active members, we have no funding other than donations and a small annual subscription from its members. We have at our disposal a wide range of experienced people, equipment and vehicles, which allow us to be prepared for any occasion. Indeed we are proud never to have let anybody down when asked to cover an event with safety communications.
